Server DVR

The Shepley Server DVR range of cards come in three models. They all give excellent near realtime picture quality with varying frame rate speeds and video compression technologies. These cards can be purchased for installing into your own business or home PC’s. The cards are PCI based and can be installed into a free PCI slot in the computers mainboard. The drivers are easily installed followed by the application software. Once set up the user can continue to access all the other functions of the PC as normal with the CCTV reduced to the taskbar.

This range of DVR cards is aimed at the professional user with multiple PC’s on a LAN or even multiple remote sites. The server part of the software package links all these features together in a secure password protected enviroment.

Example 1:-
A company with 50 PC’s on a LAN spread around a large site could install 5 of our 8 port DVR cards at strategic locations around the LAN allowing cameras to cover corridors, car parks, doors ways etc. without the need for long cable runs back to a central point.
Each of these 5 PC’s could have 8 cameras connected storing the CCTV images onto the local hard drives. This gives redundancy in case of LAN failure as the systems will carry on recording the CCTV (where as IP based Cameras send all the data over the LAN to be recorded at the server).
Subject to password authorisation any one of the 50 PC’s on the LAN can then view any of the 40 cameras and also record and store CCTV images.

This site with its 50 networked PC’s can then be linked to other remote sites with networked (or standalone) PC’s over a Broadband connection. With the correct permissions any connected PC on any of the LAN’s can then view all cameras both locally and remote.

The software allows cameras to be joined into named groups - e.g. park cameras or Door Cameras or canteen cameras - allowing easier management of large camera numbers again both locally and remotely

We believe this type of system over LAN is superior to the IP camera system due to lower demands on bandwidth. With this type of system only the data the user wants to see flows over the LAN where as with the IP cameras it all travels on the LAN using up valuable band width.

Example 2 :- A retail outlet with 8 cameras running into an old multiplexer and video. One of our 8 way 133 FPS systems will take the place of both machines, massively improve the record quality and realtime pictures off the camera plus give all the other benefits of a digital recorder.
